You are nice: Britney Tried to Give "More," Audience Wanted Less

Britney Spears aimed to bring the house down when she opened the MTV Video Music Awards, but instead she just looked like a house. A little too early for the skimpy outfits, perhaps?

The former Mrs. Federline sleep-walked her way through a critical performance of her new single, "Gimme More," and camera pans to stars like Rihanna, 50 Cent and Diddy showed the crowd wasn't really feeling it. Britney herself didn't look too enthused by the ordeal ... even seeming to forget the lyrics to her own song!

And where was the much-hyped collaboration with Criss Angel? Apparently, that was a disappearing act.

The final nail in the coffin was when the show stop looking live, and all these shitty artists got record deals. I'm proud to say I haven't seen half of those videos. I remebered when everything had to be done before 6:30, because even the pre-show was worth watching.

LAS VEGAS -- Britney Spears brought the bikini and the boots to the MTV Video Music Awards, but what she didn't bring was enthusiasm.

Spears opened the MTV Video Music Awards performing her song "Gimme More" while wearing a black sequined bikini and high-heel boots.

She appeared to be lip-synching and sometimes seemed unprepared. Celebrities in the audience looked confused.

The appearance was meant to be Spears' big comeback after a string of personal troubles, including divorce and a stint in rehab.

VMA host Sarah Silverman, who skewered Paris Hilton at the MTV Movie Awards this summer, wasn't any kinder to Spears Sunday night.

In her opening monologue, Silverman said Spears is amazing because "she is 25 years old and she's already accomplished everything she's going to accomplish in her life."

The comedian also called Spears' children "the most adorable mistakes."

Kanye West said before the VMAs he couldn't believe Spears was opening the show because she "hasn't had a hit record in years."

West seemed miffed that he wasn't asked to open the show.

"Maybe my money's not right," West said. "Maybe my skin's not right."

Justin Timberlake won two awards and drew huge applause when he said MTV should play more videos. Rihanna also won two awards, including Video of the Year for "Umbrella."

The awards were held in Las Vegas for the first time. The main show was in a ballroom, while musicians performed in high-priced suites in a swanky hotel.

West couldn't shut up after the MTV Music Video Awards. After losing in each of the five categories in which he was nominated Sunday night, he went off backstage, throwing a profanity-filled tantrum.

West noted that it has been "two years in a row" that he has lost out and said having the number-one record should have gotten him more play at the VMAs.

And West vowed to boycott the awards in the future, saying he will never be back. His advice to producers who want to book guests for next year: "Get Britney."
MTV go Back to Videos, you SUCK!!!!

The awards show was full of crap!!
Britney just lost alot of respect from me and my family. Why did they let her do that to herself? Everyone knew she wasn't ready and she also knew it. So stop saying it was your shoe because the whole world knew it was just you!!!!!!

On the other hand Mr.Chris Brown rocked he turned the show out and he made it worth watching. So MTV stick with the real stars.
