Wayne Robson 64 Dies - RIP

Red Green: We lost one of our brothers last night. Wayne Robson who played Mike Hamar passed away in his sleep. Wayne was always a sweet, generous guy who brought his great talent, warmth and sense of fun to every one of our shows. The world is a little bit sadder place today. Wayne Robson (born July 18, 1946 in Vancouver, British Columbia - Died April 4, 2011) was a Canadian television, film and stage actor best known for playing the part of Mike Hamar, a thief on The Red Green Show, and the character Beano Callahan in the Sandra Bullock and Denis Leary comedy, Two If by Sea . Mr. Robson began his acting career in Vancouver, acting on stage. In the 1970s he migrated to Toronto, Ontario Canada, where he continued his stage acting career and acted in Canadian television commercials. After receiving several small character roles in films such as McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971) and Popeye (1980), Mr. Robson got his film acting break in the 1984 film The Grey Fox, starring alongside American actor Richard Farnsworth in the role of Shorty, for which he was nominated for a Canadian Genie Award for Best Supporting Actor. Wayne also voiced Bloom in the cartoon of Pippi Longstocking. Mr. Robson continued his film career playing minor characters in such films as Finders Keepers (1984), One Magic Christmas (1985), Parents (1989), Dolores Claiborne (1995) and Survival of the Dead (2009). Besides his role as Mike Hamar on the popular Red Green Show, one of Mr. Robson's more memorable roles was as Holly Hunter's ailing father, Tug Jones in the TV movie Harlan County War (2000). Mr. Robson has been nominated and/or won several Canadian television Gemini Awards. Mr. Robson also played many Canadian television roles in such TV series/miniseries as The Good Germany, Puppets Who Kill, Franklin, Relic Hunter and Lexx. Wayne Robson 64 RIP
